The steps to greatness!
Step 1
Zonal Championships
The Commonwealth Boxing Council has put in place the Zonal Championship initiative as a stepping stone to Commonwealth title fights and ultimately world title offers.
There are three (3) zones; Caribbean/Americas Zone, Africa Zone and Oceanic Zone. Winners of zonal titles will be considered by the steering committees of the respective areas to be submitted as Commonwealth contenders.
Step 2
Silver Championships
The Commonwealth Boxing Council has introduced the Commonwealth Silver Championships, these will replace the current Eliminators.
Contenders for this title will ideally already be a listed contender, but not essential. A boxer winning a CBC Silver Belt will not automatically be considered the mandatory contender but, subject to prior or later results and at the discretion of the CBC, may be awarded mandatory status or be selected for a Final Eliminator.
Step 3
Commonwealth Championships
The pinnacle of Commonwealth boxing and entry point into contender status for a world title from the four (4) major sanctioning bodies; International Boxing Federation (IBF), World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Council (WBC), and World Boxing Organization (WBO).
